Three different things, kept separate
- Editorial estimates. Calculated by our pricing model. Not an offer, not influenced by any commercial relationship.
- Quote requests. When you choose to submit contact details, your move profile can be routed to moving companies. We may be paid for that referral.
- Mover quotes. Issued by the carrier, binding or non-binding according to their estimate type. Only these are actual prices you can accept.
What compensation does not affect
Estimates are produced by a versioned model documented on the pricing methodology page. No commercial arrangement alters a rate band, a home-size assumption, or a displayed range. We do not sell placement in editorial content or rank companies for payment.
How compensation works
Moving Cost Advisor may receive compensation from moving companies, brokers, and service partners when a user submits a quote request through this site. Compensation may exist for some providers and not others, and it may influence which providers we work with commercially. It does not change the mathematical output of the cost calculator; if that ever changes for a specific placement, we will disclose it in that placement.
A commercial relationship is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a verification of a provider's licensing, insurance, or service quality. You should independently evaluate any provider before hiring, as described in our Terms of Use.
Your data
Nothing is transmitted to a moving provider unless you submit the quote form and consent to be contacted. Estimates you generate in the calculator stay in your browser. See our privacy policy for the full detail on what we store and who receives it.
